Hi everyone. I have an Albert the Great coin, fake im guessing. But I would like to know how old it is. I've tried googling but I'm not having much luck finding any information about albert the great fakes. Any information would be greatly received. Many thanks
Its a modern copy of a portrait type Alfred the Great penny which was minted in London. The reverse depicts a monogram of that city's Latin name. This looks like a crude pewter copy that you often see struck in museums or at medieval fairs etc. as part of a historical demonstration. The only way of dating it would be if you knew its original owner.
