Hi, what are the thoughts on this coin, history, metal? Sorry for inexperience just discovered the coins.
It is a token not a coin. It is called a spade guinea after the shape of the shield.
Examples: https://en.numista.com/catalogue/index.php?mode=simplifie&p=1&r=Spade+Guinea&d=&ru=&i=&ca=3&no=&se=&v=&m=&a=&t=&dg=&w=&u=&f=&g=&c=&wi=&sw=&tb=y&tc=y&tn=y&tp=y&tt=y&cat=y&ct=coin

This (yours) is in those results ...

and it correctly states that 1701 date is impossible as George III was not born until 1738.

It would have probably been used as a gaming token. The 1701 date is likely to avoid charges of counterfeiting, which was considered treason at the time and punished by death. Others got around this by changing the legend or scalloping the edges etc.
The lettering (which I now added to above link) is:

G Y I ET F G [REX] S UF ST DS T M S ET

'George Yorke Iliffe and Frederick Gardner, Suffolk Street
(Birmingham), diesinkers, tool makers, stampers, et(c.)'
