Melt value as a minimum price estimation

After big changes in gold/silver prices a lot of the Numista values for silver and gold coins appeared to be below melt values. I don't think that such situation is correct.

I propose to solve this problem on the same way as the problem when lower graded coins had higher value was solved: in case the Numista formula calculated value is below melt, it shall be automatically equalized to the melt.

The formula may be adjusted at least for some common coins (e.g. minimum 110% of melt for xf, 115% for au and 125% for unc)

I agree 100% they should have this implemented. I don’t know anyone that would value a silver or gold coin for less than it’s melt value.

For the first part I agree, but would disagree with second part as Numista site should not be an automated arbiter in prices of coins, including in formula only the quality of a coin. This will never reflect the price of the local market. But on the other hand in my view, all coins minted after the turn of millennium have intentionally low mintage and are made just for profit. I have not seen any modern coin, that would be as beautiful as this masterpiece: https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces7402.html. When you have one of these, you get in a second what is true beauty. Numista should not encourage this and should have on all these modern coins the worth of only net value and let collectors then blow their own wind to another.

I have noticed that people in Slovenia sell coins based on price estimates from Numista and as market speculation on precious metals sadly having a negative effect on our hobby, at least in Slovenia most of the regular sellers from the street, who think of them selves as a higher developed form of human whatever, have been pumping up prices lately beyond reason. There for if any of you people read this, mark my words: "You are scum". And whats even worse - everyone else just follows like a sheep in a herd. Just for instance, a silver coin / advertising token issued by a certain company, with 15 g of .925 silver recently had net silver value around 6-7 EUR. Most of such coins are being sold on the street for at least 5-6 times of their net silver value, with paper certificate make it 7-8 times. Maybe its just me, but I find this "this is the place where you fit in the right word".

There are a lot of collectors who value common billon coins (such as 40% Kennedys, 35% Markkas, War Nickels or Morellos Pesos) who value the coins below melt due to melting complications, low purity and lower demand. While I don't agree with them per se, it should still be taken into account.
