Took some time, but I "found" a Canadian 1975 nickel, a Netherlands 2000 10 Euro Cent, and a Canadian 1987 $1 coin at the local coin star. I had to wait until the couple using the machine left, but it was worth it.

20 kopecks 1872 from Russian Empire??? Damn, that was a good find! How can someone throw it there and even more, forget it there...
During any normal year, I usually find a a few dozen foreign coins and tokens in, on, under, or around CoinStar machines. Obviously, 2020 is different; I've only had three such finds so far this year.
I look every time I am in the grocery store and an yet to find anything. :(
The employees must keep an eye out for stuff.
My best luck has been when I see people use the machine. I'll wait until they are done and walk away, then swoop in to scoop up any remainders. This has worked several times. Also, I try to go between 5-9 p.m., when the stores are more crowded and the employees don't have time to check the machine.
Found this at Fred Meyer's tonight (with photo taken in situ):

Has some nasty corrosion on the reverse, but 1/2 a cent is 1/2 a cent.

Small things. But nice. I guess when whoever was using the machine today,
near the back of the supermarket, that it was making so much noise while counting,
the customer did not hear it reject these three small coins >

2015 - UK 5 Pence - spendable
2012 - UK 5 Pence - die crack [see below]
1985 - USA 1 Cent
· As myself, and the machine, are in the UK then not sure why it would reject those first two.

One crack off the portrait, and maybe a second crack off the 2 number.
Token collector [1600-1899] with some coins

Four months later, going past the same machine - I saw what looked like a couple of copper

coins in the reject tray. So I grabbed all that was in there; in the car park saw it was these nine coins >

Did not want to check them in the store, so held on to them until outside.

So there were copper-nickel coins underneath the others; the reject tray is really dark and

I guess whoever was using the machine did not notice.

Not sure why the 1 Penny and 5 Pence were rejected.

I was visiting the pharmacy today and I found a whole dollar coin in the return tray!
